HiFly Fishing Map
At the heart of the site is the HiFly Fishing map and its underlying database. The HiFly map currently includes more than 1900 salmon & trout fisheries. For each loch fishery, river or salmon beat, there is associated data relating to the fishing and permits.
There are also more than 750 photos and 300 unique web page links to fisheries on the map, so you don't have to go through the pain of hundreds of Google searches.
The map's current coverage extends across the Northern Highlands & Islands, encompassing the best fishing spots in Moray, Inverness-shire, Ross-shire, Sutherland, Caithness, Lochaber, Orkney, Skye, Lewis & Harris, North & South Uist and Mull. It currently reaches as far south as Oban on the west coast and to the River Findhorn catchment on the east coast.
HiFly Fishing Website
The website provides the interface to interact with the map and data via 16 fishing areas. For each area there are directories listing the top trout fishing lochs & areas, such as Assynt, Durness, Lairg, Kinbrace, Caithness, Orkney, Skye, Mull, Lewis & Harris, South & North Uist etc., and the best Highland salmon rivers.
The individual river directories include information on salmon beats for the Findhorn, Ness, Nairn, Beauly, Conon, Alness, Carron, Shin, Cassley, Oykel, Brora, Helmsdale, Wick, Thurso, Halladale, Naver, Dionard, Inver, Kirkaig, Gruinard, Ewe, Carron, Shiel and Lochy etc., as well as the loch systems of Lewis & Harris and the Uists.
The HiFly site provides directory listings for 330 fisheries, showcasing the best of the fishing in each area, and augmenting it with rich content such as photos, beat maps/loch maps and videos.
The site and map are designed for optimum viewing on a PC/Mac laptop or desktop, where screen size is a significant benefit, though all of the content is still accessible on smartphones and tablets.
